NEET-UG 2024: What was that question? Due to which the ranking of 13 lakh students will change
In the NEET-UG paper leak case, the Supreme Court has said that there will be no re-examination. In such a situation, now 13 lakh students will have to face changes in ranking. This has happened due to the marks given for two answers to a question. About 9 lakh candidates had chosen the first option and more than 4 lakh had chosen the second option.
NEET exam will not be held again.
The Supreme Court's decision has come in the NEET-UG paper leak case. The court has said that there will be no re-examination. The court has independently examined the data kept on record by the NTA. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has described the court's decision as a victory of truth. The government has been saying that there has been no large-scale leak. The court has also upheld it. He has said that the final results of the medical entrance examination will be declared in two days. Earlier the result was declared on June 4. Then on July 1, the NTA declared the revised results.
The Supreme Court has also said in its decision that the ranking of 13 lakh students will face a change. This has happened due to the marks given for two answers to a question. Some students had challenged the NTA's decision to give marks for two options for a question. The students had protested against the confusion arising from two answers to a question. They said that due to this the ranking has changed. On this, the Supreme Court had asked the Director of IIT Delhi to form a committee of experts and decide the correct answer.
IIT Delhi said this in its report
Experts from IIT Delhi submitted their report to the Supreme Court. It said that there was only one correct answer, not two. IIT Delhi said that the opinion of its physics experts is that 'atoms are electrically neutral because they have equal number of positive and negative charges' .
The second option is 'Atoms of each element are stable and emit their own characteristic spectrum' . NTA had decided to give full 4 marks to those who chose either of the two options correctly. About 9 lakh candidates had chosen the first option. More than 4 lakh had chosen the second option. Now they will lose 5 marks (4 plus 1 negative mark for the question).
We can ask them to go to the High Court
The CJI said that according to the report given by the committee of professors of IIT Delhi, the fourth option of the question for which two answers were considered correct has been considered correct. At the same time, when a lawyer raised a personal matter, the CJI said that those candidates who have personal complaints, we can ask them to go to the High Court.
CJI said, I don't think it is the job of this court to look into individual complaints. We will keep those cases aside. During SG's argument, CJI asked, how many of the top 100 students met from the leaked centre. On this, SG replied that he will give full information about it.
