PM Free Solar Yojana has been started by the Government of India to promote the solar system. Under this scheme, the subsidy for installing solar panels has been doubled. That means now you can get solar panels installed for less money than before. Under this scheme, generally, families living below the poverty line and middle-class people can apply for this scheme.

The purpose of doubling the subsidy

The main objective of the double subsidy scheme is to provide cheap and eco-friendly electricity by installing solar panels in 1 crore houses in the country. Under this scheme, subsidy is being provided for solar systems with capacities ranging from 1 to 10 kW. With this, people will not only be able to get the electricity they need from the solar panel but can also benefit from it by sending the excess electricity to the grid. Through the on-grid solar system, it is possible to use the electricity generated by the solar panel in the house and send the remaining electricity to the grid, which reduces the electricity bill drastically.
