A case of dowry murder has come to light in Aurangabad, Bihar. It is alleged that the husband and in-laws of the married woman murdered her on the eighth day of marriage. After this, they called the married woman's parents and told them that their daughter had committed suicide. But the married woman had already told her family about the torture done by her in-laws. In Aurangabad, Bihar, dowry seekers killed a newly wed bride. That too just 8 days after the wedding. Later, they tried to pass it off as suicide. It is alleged that the bride's family had given more dowry to her in-laws than they could afford. Despite that, they were demanding more dowry. The victim had also mentioned this to her parents.
On the complaint of the parents, the police have registered a case against the in-laws of the married woman and started investigation. The accused are absconding at the moment. They are being searched. According to the information, Sangeeta, a resident of Tarai village of Gaya district, got married to Amarjeet Paswan on July 12. If Sangeeta's family is to be believed, Amarjeet started torturing their daughter from the very next day of the wedding night. The wedding was a grand one. The family gave dowry beyond their means, which included a Honda bike. But Amarjeet started demanding another bike. The in-laws also started pressuring Sangeeta to bring more dowry. Sangeeta told her parents about this.
Torture as soon as she goes to her in-laws house
On 16th July, Amarjeet came to Tarai village with his wife Sangeeta. He had asked Sangeeta to bring dowry money from home. But Sangeeta knew the condition of the house. So she did not tell anything to the family. On 18th July, Amarjeet took her back to her in-laws' house. But here he beat Sangeeta. Sangeeta mentioned this to her younger sister Sunita. After this, on 22nd July, Amarjeet called Sangeeta's house and said that she had committed suicide.
Accused in-laws absconding
Sangeeta's family rushed to her maternal home in a hurry. Sangeeta's body was hanging from a noose there. The family suspected that this was not a suicide but a murder. They immediately filed a complaint in the nearest police station. As soon as the police reached the victim's in-laws' house, no one was there. Everyone had fled. The police took the body into custody and sent it for postmortem. A case has been registered on the complaint of the victim and the search for the absconding accused has been started.
