The former Union Minister was allotted 28 Tughlaq Crescent Bungalow in Lutyens Delhi. Meanwhile, according to a report published in the Times of India, many new ministers formed in the new government at the Centre have started recommending for their bungalows, everyone wants to have a bungalow in Lutyens Delhi, this time a lot of people are vacating their bungalows, after which many ministers are now eyeing bungalows in Lutyens Delhi.
Four ministers lobbied for Akbar Road bungalow
According to a report published in the Times of India, some bungalows in Lutyens Delhi are very famous. For this, at least four senior ministers, including a former Chief Minister and a key alliance partner of the NDA, lobbied for the allocation of a particular bungalow on Akbar Road, which was allotted to a minister who is not a part of the Modi cabinet this time.
Everyone's eyes are on the bungalow of Safdarjung Road and Sunhari Bagh.
Another such bungalow is on Safdarjung Road, which was allotted to a former minister who lost the election. This time, everyone's eyes are on this bungalow as well. The address of this bungalow is quite high profile. Some members of the new Council of Ministers, including alliance partners in Bihar, have requested the allotment of bungalows in Sunhari Bagh, which has been vacated by two former ministers.
Ministers want big and beautiful bungalows
Some ministers not only submitted their request for a bungalow to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs but also went to see the bungalow. There is a huge demand among ministers for bigger bungalows with better interiors. All cabinet ministers are eligible for the top category bungalows called Type-VIII. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, which manages housing under the 'General Pool' category, allots houses to all ministers in the Lutyens Bungalow Zone (LBZ).
Bungalow will be given after Amit Shah's approval
A source said that so far only a few former ministers have vacated their official residences and others are likely to do so in the next few days. In such a situation, the requests of the ministers for the allotment of bungalows will be considered soon only after the bungalows are vacated. On Thursday, the request was sent to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who heads the Cabinet Committee on Housing.
50 people have to vacate their bungalow
Last month, the Housing Ministry had written to about 50 former Union ministers and MPs to vacate their official residences. According to the rules, former ministers and MPs are required to vacate government accommodation within a month of losing ministerial post or membership of either House of Parliament. If those who do not vacate the accommodation within the deadline, the government resorts to issuing eviction notices. Sources said that so far no one has officially sought an extension to retain their government accommodation.

Lutyens Bungalow Zone (LBZ) is one of the most posh and most sought-after areas in the national capital. It is spread over an area of 23.60 sq km and has heritage buildings and the Central Vista. LBZ is home to the President of India, Prime Minister, top politicians and ultra-high net-worth individuals (UHNIs). It has around 3,000 government properties and 600 private bungalows. LBZ has 17 types of housing and 3,959 properties.
