Jamiat-Ulema-e-Hind chief Maulana Mahmood Madani praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi several times in a special program on TV9. Maulana Madani said that in the last 10 years, we have supported many works and policies of the Modi government. There is no need to say anything about his foreign policy. He also said that disagreeing with PM Modi does not mean that we are against the government.

In a conversation with TV9 Bharatvarsh's special program 5 Editors, Maulana Mahmood Madani said that if PM Modi and RSS talk about uniting Pasmanda Muslims, then it is right. When PM Modi raised the issue of Pasmanda Muslims, many people opposed it but our organization supported it by passing a resolution. There are many such occasions when we have supported many works and policies done by the Government of India and Prime Minister Modi in the last 10 years.

Referring to the foreign policy of the Modi government, Maulana Madani said, "Now what is the need to say about their foreign policy? I praised it. But how can something be 100% correct? If we do not consider something to be correct, then we will speak and protest."

He further said that like the case related to Waqf by the Modi government. Before any amendment in the law, if any particular class is affected or is affected, then a dialogue should be held with them before bringing the law. Then the amendment should be brought. There should be a scope to correct things.

Regarding the warm welcome given to PM Modi abroad, Maulana Madani said that if the Prime Minister of my country goes abroad and gets respect somewhere, it is a matter of great happiness for me. But instead of asking how Muslims in India see him, it should be asked how he sees the Muslims of India. He further said that he is the Prime Minister of India and if he goes abroad, he must get respect.

Dissent does not mean being anti-government: Malana

On being asked about his support for Narendra Modi being made the Prime Ministerial candidate in 2013, Maulana Madani told TV9 Bharatvarsh that what you call support is an attempt to unite. We were on this then and we are on this even today. There has been no change between then and now. If there is any opportunity for us to talk to the government, we will not miss it.

He further said that he is our Prime Minister, if he goes anywhere outside the country then his respect is the respect of our country. It is a matter of pride for us, if he is somewhere inside and internal issues are being discussed then we will express our disagreement.

Expressing disagreement does not mean that we will become opponents of the government. We disagree and disagree with many of his working styles but if you want to agree with him in every situation or completely disagree, then this is not possible, this is the work of leaders.
