Hardoi. The body of Vinod Kumar (27), a pharmacist who was missing for 3 days, was found in a garden in Gulbaha village under Mallawan police station in Hardoi district of Uttar Pradesh. Police revealed that he was shot dead. The matter took a serious turn when ransom messages started coming on Vinod's brother's phone. In which ransom of Rs 3 lakh was demanded in exchange for the body along with the information of brother's murder.
Ransom and threat messages
The message received on the mobile of the deceased's brother Vinay said that the body will be given only after bringing three lakh rupees. In the message, the person who claimed to be a shooter from Chandigarh claimed that the brother of a girl from the village had hired him for the murder.
What is the sequence of events?
Vinod Kumar (27) son of Ram Babu, a resident of Majra Gulbaha of Mallawan police station in Hardoi district, was a pharmacist. Last Sunday morning he left his home to go to his clinic. At around 6.19 pm in the evening a message came on the mobile of Vinod's elder brother Vinay Kumar from Vinod's mobile number, which said that Vinod had been shot by four people, who were residents of Ganj, Moradabad town. After reading the message Vinay took it lightly at first but when he called Vinod again after a while, his phone was showing switched off. Then Vinay got scared. After which Vinay called 112 at 7.10 pm in the evening and informed.
Brother gave information on dial 112
After informing the police control room, three different messages came on Vinay's mobile number from Vinod's mobile itself. In which it was written that the brother of a girl from the village has given a contract of Rs 3 lakh to shoot Vinod. It was written that I am the shooter and I am a resident of Chandigarh. The person who gave the contract is not paying the money after the work is done. I have your brother's body, give me Rs 3 lakh and take the body.
After half an hour he sent a message asking whether the money had been arranged or not!
About half an hour later, Vinay received a message on his mobile asking if he had managed to arrange the money. I will tell you in the evening where to deliver the money. You have 2 hours, we have to return. After reading this message, there was a stir in the family. Vinod's brother, his wife, and children reached Kotali along with his family and showed threatening messages to the police there. Area Officer Bilgram Sunil Kumar said that about 21 years ago, in the year 2023, a summons came from the court regarding a case of assault in the village. Vinod had to appear in court on Monday, before that Vinod disappeared on Sunday itself. The matter is being investigated.
A case of an old affair?
The family said that Vinod had an affair with a girl from the village. One and a half years ago, the family got him married to someone else. After this, the girl and her family were harassing Vinod. The mother alleged that these people were behind the murder of her son.
Police were accused of negligence
Vinod's brother said that when he informed the police about the message, the police did not take it seriously and instead blamed the family. Currently, the police have registered a case against 8 people, and the search for the main accused is on.
Murder mystery deepens
There is panic in the entire village after the body was found. The police have sent the body for postmortem and have intensified the investigation. The family members allege that the police are trying to save the main accused. The case is said to be related to a love affair.
