Recently, in Sherpur district, fundamentalists carried out incidents of looting houses of Hindus, destroying their crops and setting fire to settlements. Videos of these incidents have also surfaced, in which it can be clearly seen how the armed mob targeted the Hindu community in a planned manner.

Sherpur area, houses of Hindus were completely demolished. An attempt was made to take away their livelihood by burning crops. The animals present in the settlement were also looted, so that they had no means of livelihood left. Local Hindu families had to flee their homes to save their lives.

In Thakurgaon district, Hindu youths protesting peacefully were attacked by Muslim fundamentalists. Some youths were seriously injured after being beaten with sticks. Video footage showed one youth being beaten in public while the other was beaten to death until he fell unconscious.

A mob hurled stones at the Shantiswari Kali temple in

Chittagong after Friday prayers. Apart from damaging the temple, nearby Hindu houses were also targeted. The shocking thing is that the police and army personnel remained mute spectators during the attack.

India has expressed serious concern over this matter. The Ministry of External Affairs has demanded the Bangladesh government to ensure the safety of minorities. Indian spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said that Bangladesh should fulfill its responsibility for the protection of minorities.
