Ban on Jamaat-e-Islami lifted, Jasimuddin Rahmani released… know the intention of Yunus government of Bangladesh
The interim government of Bangladesh, led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus, has taken two major decisions this week, which are very important from India's point of view. The interim government of Bangladesh on Wednesday lifted the ban on the Islamic Jamaat-e-Islami party. Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had banned Jamaat-e-Islami during the protests. Along with this, the interim government has released Jasimuddin Rahmani, the head of the anti-India militant leader Ansarullah Bangla Team, on parole. This Ansarullah group has direct links with the Al-Qaeda group. As a result, India's concerns about national security have increased a lot.
Let us tell you that on 15 February 2013, a Bangladeshi blogger named Rajiv Haider was murdered in front of his house in Dhaka. Rahmani was arrested in August of the same year on charges of murder. He was sentenced to five years in jail. He has also been accused of terrorism under Bangladeshi law.
Rahmani's Ansarullah Bangla Team or ABT was banned in Bangladesh under Sheikh Hasina in 2015. The militant group later changed its name to Ansar al-Islam. Ansar al-Islam was also banned by the Hasina government in 2017.
Rahmani was released from Kashimpur Central Jail in Gazipur last Monday. Not only was he released, but he was also taken away by the Bangladesh Army. After his release, he was seen addressing supporters from an open-roof car.
Rahmani accused of aiding terrorism
Ansarullah Bangla Team has been trying to spread terrorism in India for a long time. Many of its workers have been arrested in India earlier as well. Assam Police had arrested two ABT militants from Guwahati Railway Station in May this year as well. ABT has direct links with the banned group 'Al-Qaeda in Indian Subcontinent' in India.
Pakistani terrorist groups, including Lashkar-e-Taiba, have partnered to carry out terrorist attacks in Northeast India. Anarullah also set up a terrorist base in India with the help of Lashkar in 2022. That year about 100 of his members tried to infiltrate Tripura. The same release has increased India's concern.
Ban lifted from Jamaat-e-Islami
Along with this, the interim government lifted the ban on Jamaat-e-Islami on Wednesday. The Home Ministry lifted the ban on Wednesday, which gave the party the way to resume its activities. It will still have to register with the Election Commission to contest elections. Let us tell you that Jamaat-e-Islami is considered a radical Islamic party and it is considered a Pakistan-supported party. In such a situation, the ban on Jamaat-e-Islami has increased the concern for India.
Jamaat leader said this about India
Although Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami chief Shafiqur Rahman says that his party Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is in favour of stable and cordial relations with India, he also urged India to reconsider its foreign policy towards the neighbourhood. He says that bilateral relations do not only mean interfering in each other's internal issues.
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Amir (chief) Rahman says that Bangladesh should leave the past behind and maintain balanced and strong relations with countries like China, America, and Pakistan.
