India will have permanent entry into UNSC! Indications from QUAD summit
The joint statement of the meeting of QUAD countries held in America is giving good signs for India. America, India, Australia, and Japan have agreed on reforms in the UNSC in a joint declaration. This joint statement reiterated the need to reform the UNSC, as well as emphasized making it more representative, inclusive, transparent, and democratic. The statement said that the member countries of QUAD will reform the UNSC and emphasized the urgent need to make it more representative, inclusive, transparent, efficient, effective, democratic, and accountable by expanding the permanent-temporary category of membership. Apart from this, there is also talk of including representation of African, Asian, Latin American, and Caribbean countries in the UNSC by expanding the permanent seats.
America supported India

India has been demanding permanent membership
India has been demanding reforms in the UNSC for many years. It is one of the 6 major organs of the United Nations. UNSC comprises 15 member countries of the UN, out of which 5 are permanent members who have veto power. Apart from this, there are 10 other temporary members, who are elected for 2 years. Temporary members keep changing every 2 years.
Its 5 permanent members are also called 'P5', they are - America, France, Russia, Britain, and China. Out of these 5 permanent members, if we leave China, then India has good and strong relations with all the other countries. France has already supported India's permanent membership. Russia and India's friendship is well known. If China does not create any obstacles, then the way for India's permanent entry into the UNSC can be cleared. In fact, to take a decision on any issue in the UNSC, approval of 9 out of 15 members is necessary, whereas if any country from the 'P5' countries uses veto power, then that decision is rejected.
At the same time, from time to time there has been a demand for permanent membership from India, which has not been fulfilled yet. But the joint statement of QUAD and the statement issued by the White House have raised India's hopes.
