Violence again in Mexico, gunmen opened fire in a bar, 6 people died
Six people were killed and at least five others injured on Sunday when gunmen opened fire at a bar in southeastern Mexico. The shooting took place in the coastal state of Tabasco, which has recently been struggling with increasing violence. Public Security Secretary Omar Garcia Harfuch said on X that the shooting took place in Villahermosa and that federal authorities were working with local authorities to help solve the incident. No arrests have been reported so far and it was not clear what prompted the shooting.
Earlier in November, gunmen attacked a bar in the central Mexican city of Querétaro, killing 10 people. According to Juan Luis Ferrusca, head of Querétaro's public security department, the attackers opened fire inside the Los Cantaritos bar in the city's historic district.
10 people killed in firing
Emergency services arrived at the scene and confirmed that at least four men armed with long weapons came in a pickup truck, a video posted on social media showed. They said so far 10 people have been reported dead and at least seven others injured.
Ferrusca said a suspect was taken into custody and the vehicle used in the attack was abandoned and set on fire. Querétaro is considered one of Mexico's safest cities, where escalating violence has led to the killing of more than 450,000 people since 2006, most of them linked to drug trafficking and gangs.
