Why is the Israeli army entering Lebanon even after eliminating Hezbollah chief Nasrallah?
Israel has already eliminated its number one enemy Hassan Nasrallah, yet it has started a ground operation in Lebanon. After 18 years, the Israeli army has once again entered Lebanon's border. However, when Israel started an operation against Hezbollah in Lebanon in 2006, its strategy backfired. Israel also suffered huge losses in the 34-day war.
Then during the cross-border raid, Hezbollah took two Israeli soldiers hostage due to which Israel had to conduct a ground operation in Lebanon. But now the situation has changed. Israel has caused great damage to Hezbollah without even setting foot on Lebanese soil, in such a situation the question arises why does the Israeli army want to launch a ground attack in Lebanon even after killing the Hezbollah chief?
What is the purpose of the ground operation in Lebanon?
Even though Hezbollah chief Nasrallah has been killed by Israel, Hezbollah's attacks in North Israel are continuing. Despite the elimination of the top leadership, the intentions of the organization have not weakened. Hezbollah's deputy chief and number-2 leader Naeem Qasim had made it clear through a video message on Monday that his rebel group is ready for any kind of war. In such a situation, this ground operation of Israel can have 3 objectives.
First: Destroy Hezbollah's military bases
Israel's first objective with this ground operation will be to destroy Hezbollah's military bases. In fact, so far most of the attacks have taken place in residential areas where Israel claimed that Hezbollah had hidden weapons in people's homes. But a few days ago, Hezbollah released a video of a tunnel where there were thousands of rockets and missiles.
According to estimates, Hezbollah has more than one lakh rockets and missiles. If its military capability is not destroyed, it can attack Israel with double the force in the coming days.
Second: Stop Hezbollah's attacks on Northern Israel.
The death of Hassan Nasrallah has dealt a big blow to Hezbollah, thousands of its fighters are injured, meaning they are not in a position to fight. In such a situation, the Israeli army will try to stop the attacks on Northern Israel by engaging Hezbollah inside Lebanon.
If Israel's strategy succeeds, it will be a big success under its North Border planning. According to Israel, about 60 thousand Jews have been displaced from this area due to Hezbollah's attacks. Their resettlement is one of its war aims.
It is believed that the Israeli army has entered Lebanon to fulfill this war goal. Experts believe that the Israeli army can create a buffer zone by occupying the border area, as it has done by creating Netzarim and Philadelphia corridors in Gaza. By doing this, Israel will be able to keep Hezbollah away from the border area and it will be easier to resettle the displaced Jews from North Israel.
