Women in NDA: A Historic Decision
🔹 In August 2021, the Supreme Court ordered the government to allow women in the NDA entrance exam.
🔹 Women were earlier allowed to serve as Short Service Commission (SSC) officers in the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
🔹 From 2022 onwards, female students became eligible for NDA and Naval Academy exams conducted by UPSC.
NDA Training and Selection Process
✔ Candidates undergo written exams, personality tests, and intelligence tests conducted by the Services Selection Board (SSB).
✔ After medical examination, UPSC releases the final merit list.
✔ NDA training lasts three years in six terms, after which cadets join specialized military academies.
This marks a major step towards gender equality in India's defense forces, ensuring women receive the same training and facilities as their male counterparts.
