First story 

According to a legend, Hanuman ji reconciled the differences between the Sun God and Shani Dev by ending them. Shanidev went to meet Surya Dev only at the behest of Hanuman ji and since then the relationship between father and son became sweet. 

After this, when Surya Dev went to Shani Lok for the first time on the call of Shani Dev, then the movements of the planets were changed and chances were made to get auspicious results. For this reason, the visit of the Sun God to Shani Dev's home was considered auspicious and this day was celebrated as Makar Sankranti. 

Second story

There is also another story which is related to Makar Sankranti. The essence of this story begins with Lord Vishnu. According to the legend, Lord Vishnu had done a terrible killing of the Asuras on earth. In this carnage, all the demons of the earth were killed. 

It is believed that Lord Vishnu had cut off the heads of all those demons with his chakra and buried them on the MandaraMountain. For this reason, this day was celebrated as Makar Sankranti. The tradition of worshipping Lord Vishnu on the day of Makar Sankranti started from here.
