When to celebrate Diwali: October 31 or November 01?
According to the scriptures, Diwali is celebrated every year on Kartik Amavasya Tithi, but this time there is confusion due to Amavasya Tithi falling on both 31 October and 01 November. According to the Vedic calendar, this year Amavasya Tithi will start on 31 October at 3:12 pm, which will last till 05:14 pm on 01 November. After this Pratipada Tithi will start. According to the Vedic calendar, Lakshmi Puja on Diwali is always done in Amavasya Tithi and Pradosh Kaal i.e. from sunset to late night. In such a situation, it will be auspicious to celebrate Diwali on 31 October in the auspicious times of Amavasya Tithi, Pradosh Kaal, and Nishita Kaal.
