Alphabets give signal of expiry date

The expiry date of the gas cylinder is marked in letters. You must have seen A23, B23 and C24 written on your cylinder at home. In this context, A represents the months from January to March, B represents April to June, C represents July to September and D represents October to December. The letters are followed by numbers (23, and 24), which indicate the year.

Cylinder blasts occur due to this reason

If LPG gas is filled in the cylinder after its expiry date, it will not be able to withstand the pressure. This results in an increase in temperature, and because of the proximity to the flame, the cylinders often explode. Although the expiry date is written on the cylinder, most consumers are not aware of it.
