As winter envelops our days in the chill, the warmth of a steaming cup of tea becomes a constant companion. From morning breakfast to the quiet moments before bed, tea holds a special place. The excessive caffeine in tea leaves prompts consideration of moderation. Today, through this article, we will tell you about those states of the country where different types of tea are drunk-
1. Kashmiri Kahwa:
Kahwa, a famous tea from Kashmir, is a staple during winter. Its ability to provide warmth and provide health benefits including quick relief from cold makes it a worthy alternative to regular tea. To prepare this aromatic drink, gather green tea powder, green cardamom, sugar or dates, almonds, cinnamon, saffron and ginger. Dry fruits or cashews can also be added for additional flavour.
2. Millet Raab:
Raab, a nutritious soup/drink from Rajasthan, is made from millet, ghee, jaggery and ginger. Modern variations may include milk and dry fruits, which enhance its health benefits. Prepare it by cooking jaggery, adding millet flour, mixing it in milk and cooking till the flour separates. To enhance the taste, add cardamom powder, dry fruits and ginger powder to it.
3. Sattu Sharbat:
Sharbat, popular in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, consists of roasted sattu (gram flour), water, lemon juice and spices. Traditionally consumed in summer, it can be adapted for winter by using hot water. Dissolve Sattu in hot water, add more water, black salt, plain salt, green chilli, mint, lemon juice and roasted cumin powder. This makes a delicious sattu sherbet, and a sweet version can be made with a little adjustment.
4. Jaggery Tea:
Jaggery tea, a winter staple in Punjab, uses jaggery in place of sugar for sweetness and added benefits. Enhance your tea by adding ginger, cardamom, cinnamon and black pepper. It not only enhances taste but also helps in weight loss, and relief from cold and can boost immunity.
