Teenage girls can become victims of anemia due to irregular menstruation.

The increasing influence of social media on the health of adolescent girls in Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh has raised serious concerns. Data from the Model Saathiya Center located in the women's hospital of the district show that cases of menstrual irregularities are increasing rapidly among adolescent girls. Experts say that spending more time on social media, lack of physical activities and unbalanced diet are the main reasons for this.

In fact, 394 adolescent girls were counseled in Bareilly in January and February. Most of them had the problem of early or late menstruation. Experts say that this problem occurs when hormones in the body become unbalanced. The reason for this can be lack of physical activities and excessive use of mobile, stress and wrong routine.

Cases of periods starting at the age of 10-12 years have increased

Alpana Saxena, counsellor of Model Saathiya Centre, said that now 10 to 15 such cases are coming up every month. Where 10-12 year old girls are getting their periods. This can be dangerous for their mental and physical health. Not getting the tests done on time and being careless about food increases the risk of anaemia.

Senior gynecologist and obstetrician Dr. Mridula Sharma said that the biggest reason for irregular periods in teenage girls is their poor daily routine. Apart from studies, they are reducing physical activity. Due to which their hormones are becoming unbalanced.

Menstruation can be affected due to these reasons

  • Lack of physical activity
  • Unbalanced diet and late meals
  • Stress and irregular sleep
