Nidhi Tewari, an Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer from the 2014 batch, has been appointed as the personal secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She is the first woman in recent history to hold this prestigious position. Currently serving as a Deputy Secretary in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), her appointment was formalized by the Department of Personnel.

Before her role in the PMO, Nidhi Tewari passed the UPSC Civil Services Examination in 2013 with an all-India rank of 96, securing a spot in the Indian Foreign Service. Prior to joining the IFS, she worked as an Assistant Commissioner in Varanasi. Her early career also saw her working as an Under Secretary in the Disarmament and International Security Affairs Division at the Ministry of External Affairs.

Salary of IFS Nidhi Tewari

As PM Modi's personal secretary, Nidhi Tewari will receive a salary based on Pay Matrix Level-14, amounting to Rs. 1,44,200 per month. In addition to this, she will be entitled to various allowances, such as dearness allowance, housing allowance, and travel allowance, bringing her total monthly salary to around Rs. 2 lakh. She will also enjoy other facilities associated with her position.

Nidhi Tewari is a resident of Mahmoorganj in Varanasi, PM Modi’s constituency. During her training in the Foreign Service, she was awarded the Gold Medal as the Best Officer Trainee, showcasing her excellence. As the personal secretary to the Prime Minister, she will be responsible for managing PM Modi's daily administrative tasks, coordinating meetings, and overseeing preparations for foreign tours.
