Common Urinary Problem In Men: Urinary problems in men are a serious health problem. Going to the doctor for examination as soon as its symptoms appear can save you from life-threatening diseases.

Urinary diseases become more common in men as they age. In urological diseases, the body loses the ability to filter and excrete urine. This has a huge impact on quality of life and general health. 

Dr. Arif Akhtar, Consultant-Urology, Robotic and Kidney Transplant, Maringo Asia Hospital explains that in men, these diseases affect the reproductive system and urinary tract. These urinary problems can vary from normal infections to serious diseases like prostate cancer. In such a situation, detecting them on time and starting treatment can prevent serious consequences. 

Common urological diseases in men

Urinary diseases in men include kidney stones, prostatitis, urinary tract infections (UTIs), erectile dysfunction (ED), benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), and cancers of the bladder, kidney, and prostate.

Signs of urological disease

- Frequent urination

- Pain while urinating

- Blood in urine

- Pain in the pelvic area

- Inability to control urination

- Erectile dysfunction

- Pain or swelling in the testicles

Diagnosis

Effective treatment of urinary diseases depends on timely diagnosis. In the process of diagnosis, a complete medical history and physical test is done first. Also, urinalysis-urine test, blood test to detect problems in the prostate , blood or semen test to detect infection can be done. Apart from this, imaging technology such as CT scan, MRI and ultrasound may also have to be done to check the reproductive organ. Biopsy is done to detect cancer.

Treatment

After diagnosis, urinary tract diseases require medication and sometimes surgery to cure them. Along with this, regular exercise and maintaining a healthy weight, avoiding smoking and excessive alcohol consumption, a balanced diet and drinking enough water are also important for quick recovery.
