Where is Nageshwar Temple?
This famous and ancient temple is not present in any other state of India but in Dwarka of Gujarat. It is said that this temple is more than two and a half thousand years old. One of the popular 12 Jyotirlingas of India, this temple is also famous as the 'Lord of the Serpents'.
Lord Shiva is worshipped here in the form of his Jyotirlinga and is also known as Darukavana here. About 25 meters high statue of Lord Shiva in this temple complex is very popular with the devotees.
Legend of Nageshwar Temple
According to folk belief, it is said that a Vaishya lived in this province and he was a great devotee of Shiva. He was so engrossed in the hymns of God that many times he forgot to drink water or even eat.
But a demon used to reach to disturb the worship of Vaishya. Once Vaishya was imprisoned in it, but even in captivity Vaishya did not stop worshipping Shiva. After being fed up, when the demon was about to kill Vaishya's friends, Lord Shiva appeared and saved him. It is said that after this incident Vaishya got liberation and he reached Shiv Lok forever after this Jyotirlinga was established at this place.

Nageshwar Jyotirlinga Temple is one of the most beautiful temples in India. Nearby on the temple premises, an idol of Lord Shiva has been installed at a height of about 80 feet. The texture of this ancient temple also attracts a lot of devotees. It is said that different types of pictures and words are written in Sanskrit on the walls of the temple.

Yes, this holy temple is visited by lakhs of devotees every day during the month of Sawan. Not only local people but devotees also reach from different parts of the country.
Like the month of Sawan, on the day of Mahashivaratri, lakhs of devotees reach this temple for Deshan. On this day, a crowd of devotees are present from morning till evening. A fair is also organized around the temple premises.

You can also reach Dwarka railway station first by train, from here take local taxis and cabs and reach the temple for darshan. You have to reach Porbandar by air. It is about 107 km from Porbandar and about 126 km from Jamnagar.
