What to eat during the Navratri fast

First two and last two fasts. During this, people often get confused about food and drink. Let us know what to eat and what not to eat during Navratri to avoid health problems.

1) Milk or milk products can be consumed during Navratri fast. You can make many types of shakes and smoothies with milk. If you have diabetes, choose natural alternatives to sugar, such as jaggery, honey, and dates. Along with this, include curd, buttermilk, or raita in the food, as these will prevent digestive problems during fasting and also keep your energy levels balanced. Paneer should be included in the protein diet.

2) Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables during the fast. Potato, sweet potato, bottle gourd, colocasia, pumpkin, spinach, cucumber, carrot, and all types of fruits like banana, apple, watermelon, papaya, and grapes should be included.

3) Rice, wheat flour, sago, amaranth, and water chestnut flour will be very useful in making rotis, puriyas, dumplings, chilies, and favorite dishes according to the prevailing at some places.

4) Eat coarse salt during Navratri fast. Apart from this, you can also add spices like cumin, clove, and cinnamon. Spices are essential for controlling cholesterol and blood sugar levels.

5) Dry fruits are a storehouse of proteins, vitamins, and minerals. Include dry fruits in your Navratri diet. You can eat a handful of walnuts, almonds, dates, pistachios, and raisins throughout the day.

What should not be eaten during Navratri fast

1) Eating tamasic food is prohibited during Navratri. These include onions and garlic. Do not include these in your Navratri diet.

2) Abstain from regular flour like wheat, rice, maida, semolina, maize flour, and all types of pulses during the fast.

3) Regular salt, turmeric, coriander leaves, coriander, and mustard should not be eaten during Navratri fast.

4) Apart from all these, alcohol, egg, and meat are prohibited.
