Omkareshwar is situated near Indore city. A large number of devotees come to Omkareshwar to have darshan of Mahadev, the God of Gods. Whereas, after having darshan of Baba, we get blessings from him. It is a religious belief that Omkareshwar is the only Jyotirlinga in the country. Wherein, Aarti is performed in all the three Prahars. Mahadev, the God of Gods, is present in all the three times. After Aarti, Mahadev and Mata Parvati play Chaupad. For this, the chaupad is decorated after the evening aarti in the temple. This tradition has been going on since time immemorial.

Every day the priests of the temple decorate the chaupad after the evening aarti. After this the doors of the temple are closed. Once the kapat is closed, no one is allowed to enter the temple. The doors of the temple are opened the next day in the morning. At that time the pieces kept on the floor are found scattered. As if someone has played chaupad.
