How to apply for a passport?
To apply for a passport online, you must first register on the Passport Seva website. If you already have an account, you can log in to it. Then click on Apply for Fresh Passport/Re-issue of Passport. Here fill in all the information sought in the application form and submit it. After that go to the home page and click on View Saved/Submitted Applications. Then click on Pay and Schedule Appointment. Make payment and download the receipt after booking an appointment. After that click on print application receipt and complete the process.
How much does it cost to get a passport?
To get a new passport, you will have to pay a fee of Rs 1500. You will also get a validity of 10 years along with an additional booklet of 36 pages. Whereas, if you need a passport immediately, then a fee of Rs 2000 will have to be paid. Apart from this, if you want to remove the passport of a minor, then you will have to pay a fee of Rs 1000. You will also have to pay a fee of Rs 2000 for getting passports made immediately for children.
How many days will it take to get a passport?
Any utility bill, income tax assessment order, photo ID of Election Commission, Aadhaar card, rent agreement, and passport copy of parents can be given as address proof for a passport. At the same time, any one of the birth certificates, Aadhaar cards, Voter ID cards, and PAN cards can be used for proof of date of birth. The passport is sent by speed post to the address given by you while filling out the application. The processing time for a normal passport is 30 to 45 days. Hence, for applications made under Tatkal mode, the passport application turnaround time is 7 to 14 days.
