Dr. Shefali Tyagi says that as the size of your uterus increases, it puts pressure on the nerves in the lower part of your body. This hinders blood circulation in the heart. This causes fluid to build up in the vein, which can also seep into the surrounding tissue. This can cause swelling in the hands and feet. According to doctors, there is swelling in the hands and feet during pregnancy.

She added that this condition is also known as 'physiological edema' and is common in the third trimester and this swelling starts during this period. The doctor further said that the swelling may increase day by day. Because there is a risk of fluid accumulation in those parts of the body away from the heart. It is normal for swelling to increase as the due date approaches.

What to do to reduce swelling?
