Material

4 ripe bananas

1/2 cup ghee

1 cup sugar

1/2 cup water

1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder

A handful of chopped dry fruits (cashews, almonds and pistachios)

A pinch of saffron threads (optional, for garnish)

Preparation Time: 20 minutes

Method

- Peel the ripe bananas and mash them well in a bowl until no lumps remain. Keep aside.

- In a saucepan, combine sugar and water over medium heat.

- Stir the mixture until the sugar dissolves completely and forms a thick syrup. Keep it aside.

- Heat ghee in a heavy bottom pan on medium flame.

- Add mashed bananas to the pan and keep stirring continuously so that lumps do not form.

Cook the bananas in ghee until the mixture becomes thick and starts leaving the sides of the pan. This should take about 10-15 minutes.

When the bananas are ripe, slowly add sugar syrup to them, stirring continuously so that lumps do not form.

- Keep stirring the mixture until it thickens and attains a halwa-like consistency. This will take another 5-7 minutes.

- To enhance the taste of halwa, add cardamom powder to it and mix well.

- In a separate small pan, fry the chopped nuts in one spoon of ghee until they turn golden brown.

-For added beauty, garnish the banana halwa with roasted nuts and saffron threads.

- Remove the halwa from the flame and let it cool for a few minutes.

- Serve hot banana halwa in dessert bowls and enjoy with your family and friends.
