During Navratri people worship various forms of Goddess Shakti. During this time devotees visit temples dedicated to the goddess. Shaktipeeths are important pilgrimage sites in Hinduism and have immense significance. It is believed that these are the places where the body parts of Goddess Sati fell when Lord Vishnu cut her body into 51 pieces after offering himself in the sacrificial fire. While most of these Shaktipeeths are in India, there are nine that are located outside India. Let us know which Shaktipeeths are located in foreign countries.
Bangladesh:
Sugandha Shakti Peeth: This Shakti Peeth is located in Shikarpur, about 20 kilometers from the Barisal district. Here the goddess is known as Sunanda or Devi Tara and Bhairava is called Trayambaka Bhairava.
Karatoiyach Shaktipeeth: Located in Begada, Bhawanipur, this Shaktipeeth is in Bangladesh. Here the goddess is worshiped as Aparna and Bhairava is known as Vaman.
Chattal Shakti Peeth: Located in Chattogram, Bangladesh, this Shakti Peeth is the place where the right arm of the goddess fell. She is worshiped here as Bhavani and the Bhairav here is Chandrashekhar.
Yashore Shaktipeeth: This Shaktipeeth in Jessore, Khulna, Bangladesh is dedicated to Goddess Yashore Kali. Bhairav Chand of this place is.
Pakistan:
Hinglaj Shakti Peeth: Located in Balochistan, Pakistan, this Shakti Peeth is the place where the head or hair of the goddess had fallen. The goddess is known as Kotari or Hingula and Bhairava is Bhimlochan.
Tibet:
Mansarovar Shaktipeeth: Near Lake Mansarovar in Tibet, this Shakti Peeth is where the right hand of the goddess had fallen. Here she is worshiped as Dakshayani and Bhairava is known as Amar.
Nepal:
Guheshwari Shaktipeeth: Located in Kathmandu, Nepal, this Shaktipeeth is the place where both the knees of the goddess fell. She is known as Mahamaya and her Bhairava is Kapalnath.
Gandaki Shaktipeeth: This Shakti Peeth is located near the Gandaki River in Nepal. It is here that the wrist of the goddess fell and she is worshiped as Gandaki. The Bhairav here is Chakrapani.
Sri Lanka:
Lanka Shaktipeeth: This Shaktipeeth in Sri Lanka is dedicated to Goddess Indrakshi and its Bhairava is Raksheswara.
