According to their beliefs, some people observe fasts for two days, while some observe fasts for the entire nine days.

Priya Paliwal, Chief Dietician at Shri Balaji Action Medical Institute, Delhi, said that fasting for nine days during Navratri helps in detoxifying the body and getting mental peace, but proper diet is necessary so that there is no weakness or any kind of health related problem.
To maintain energy during the fast, one should eat fruits, coconut water, milk, curd, tapioca, water chestnut flour and things made from Rajgir. Dry fruits like almonds, walnuts and raisins provide essential nutrition to the body. To stay hydrated throughout the day, drink plenty of water and drink lemonade or buttermilk.
During the fast, fried food, excessive spices and packed food should be avoided as it can cause gas and acidity in the stomach. Do not stay empty stomach for a long time, it can cause weakness and dizziness. If someone has diabetes or any other health problem, then definitely consult a doctor before fasting. By adopting a balanced diet and proper routine, Navratri fast can be kept easily and it will not cause any harm to health.
Stay hydrated
Consume water and liquids during fasting. If you do not drink the right amount of water, it can cause dehydration. Which can cause a lack of water in the body. Drink coconut water, fresh fruit juice, buttermilk and normal water, so that the body remains hydrated and you feel fresh.

If you are feeling weak or are having any discomfort, then rest for a while. Take care of your diet as well as your daily routine, avoid doing high energy work and get proper sleep. Apart from this, exercising during fasting depends on what your calorie intake is… If your calorie intake is good then you can exercise. If you are taking less calories then you should not exercise. If you want, you can walk or do a light workout, which does not require much effort.
