A major disaster was averted when a five-story hotel under construction in Jaipur's Malviya Nagar Sector 9 began to tilt. Excavation work in the basement caused cracks in the walls, causing the building to tilt to one side. In response, the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) and the administration decided to carry out controlled demolition. In just five seconds, the entire building collapsed like a house of cards.

As soon as cracks appeared and the hotel began to tilt, all the workers abandoned their work and fled to safety. Nearby residents immediately alerted the police and administration. Officials arrived at the scene and began evacuating the entire area as a precautionary measure.

Horrifying video surfaced

Two cranes were deployed in preparation for demolition, but due to the increasing danger, the JDA decided to demolish the entire building. The JCB machines weakened the structure beneath the building, and the hotel collapsed within moments. A video of this incident has also surfaced.

The hotel owner protested

The hotel owner arrived at the scene and protested the JDA's action. He stated that he had obtained permission from the Municipal Corporation and deposited ₹1.25 lakh. Despite this, the hotel was declared illegal and demolished.

What did the Tehsildar say on the action?

Meanwhile, JDA Zone 1 Tehsildar Shivang Sharma stated that the hotel was being built in a residential area, violating commercial activity regulations. Furthermore, the basement was being excavated improperly and without permission. The hotel was being constructed rapidly on a 90-yard plot.

In just seven months, the entire five-story building was completed, and the exterior work was nearly complete. However, cracks and tilt in the basement threatened the structure. Authorities averted a major disaster by carrying out a controlled demolition. Residents and the administration have breathed a sigh of relief.
