If you are tired of visiting Aadhaar centers again and again just to update your Aadhaar details, there’s good news. UIDAI has introduced a major convenience that allows users to update their mobile number right from home through the new Aadhaar app. This means no more long queues, no more repeated visits, and no documents required to update your registered mobile number.
The entire process can now be completed through the Aadhaar app, offering a smoother and more user-friendly experience.
What comes next after mobile number update?
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) recently announced through a post on X (formerly Twitter) that it will soon introduce the option to update your address from home as well. This indicates that once the mobile number update feature is fully rolled out, users will also get the convenience of changing their address through the same Aadhaar app.
How the new system will work
According to UIDAI, users will be verified through an OTP sent to their current or new mobile number. After this, a face authentication step will be completed using the Aadhaar app’s built-in verification technology. This two-layer verification is designed to ensure strong security while making the process quick and hassle-free. UIDAI has made it clear that no physical documents or in-person visits will be required.
How to use the new Aadhaar app
Android users can download the Aadhaar app from the Google Play Store, while iPhone users can install it from the App Store. After installation:
• Open the app and select your preferred language
• Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number
• Complete OTP verification sent to your mobile number
• Finish the face scan authentication
• Create a 6-digit security PIN to secure your Aadhaar profile on the app
Once set up, the app allows easy and secure access to Aadhaar services directly from your phone.
