Airplane or DND mode? Which is the best way to save battery? Learn the expert's opinion

Airplane Mode vs. Do Not Disturb: People are often confused about which mode saves the most battery, Airplane Mode or DND Mode. If we consider how they work, it's clear that Airplane Mode saves the most power. If your phone's battery is low and you don't have a charger, you should put it on Airplane Mode to keep it on longer.

Stop Phone Battery Drainage: With time, smartphones have become as important for us as the fear of phone battery draining also haunts us. To save the phone battery from draining, people often make use of two features. First is Airplane Mode and Do Not Disturb Mode. Airplane Mode is generally used during air travel, whereas DND Mode is turned on by people to avoid notifications while sleeping or during meetings.

Apart from their main functions, both these modes also work to save the phone's battery, but do you know which of these two saves the phone's battery in a better way? If you look at the way these two modes work, then you can get the answer.

Which mode saves more battery?

Suppose you are out of the house and forgot to carry a charger with you. Now you have to save your battery from draining fast. In such a situation, Airplane Mode can be of great help to you. Actually, when you turn on Airplane Mode on your phone, your phone completely turns off the three biggest enemies of the battery i.e. cellular network, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Turning it on is beneficial when you are in an area with weak network. When it is on, the phone saves the processor from putting much effort in searching for the network. In such a situation, Airplane Mode can save the maximum battery of your phone.

DND mode is also no less useful

Many people believe that DND mode saves more battery, which is completely wrong. In fact, DND mode does not turn off your phone's network or internet connection. It only prevents your phone's screen from blinking repeatedly, mute the ringtone sound, and gives the vibration motor a rest.

This saves very little battery. However, this mode is useful when you need to save battery but cannot turn off your phone or disconnect it from the network. In such a situation, you can use DND mode instead of Airplane mode.

What advice do experts give?

Airplane mode turns off your phone's network, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth at the hardware level. DND mode, on the other hand, only prevents the noise of notifications and the screen from turning on repeatedly. Experts say that if your phone has 10-15% battery and there's no charger nearby, you should immediately put it on airplane mode.

Your phone can stay on for a long time in this mode. However, if you just want to sleep peacefully and don't miss important calls, Do Not Disturb (DND) mode is the best option for you.
