Apple is reportedly preparing one of the biggest upgrades ever for the iPad Mini. According to recent reports, the next-generation model could become the first iPad Mini to feature an OLED display, offering significant improvements in picture quality and power efficiency.
The new tablet is expected to debut around October, although Apple has not officially confirmed its launch plans.
OLED Display May Finally Come to the iPad Mini
According to reports, the upcoming iPad Mini is internally codenamed J510. If the leaks are accurate, it would mark the biggest hardware upgrade for the compact tablet since its redesign in 2021.
So far, Apple has reserved OLED technology for its premium iPad Pro lineup. The next iPad Mini could be the first non-Pro iPad to receive this display technology.
An OLED panel would offer several advantages, including:
- Richer and more vibrant colours
- Deeper blacks
- Higher contrast
- Better power efficiency
These improvements could enhance activities such as watching videos, gaming, reading, and photo editing.
New Entry-Level iPad Also in Development
Reports also suggest Apple is working on an updated entry-level iPad, reportedly carrying the internal codename J581.
The new model is expected to launch early next year and may feature:

iPad Air Refresh May Be on the Way
Apple is also said to be preparing updated versions of the iPad Air.
The refreshed lineup could include:
- 11-inch model
- 13-inch model
The devices are reportedly codenamed J807 and J837, although details about their processors and additional features have not yet emerged.
Apple May Expand OLED Across the Entire iPad Lineup
After gradually introducing OLED displays to more iPhone models, Apple is now expected to follow a similar strategy for its tablets.
