By slightly reducing the engine capacity, the manufacturer has successfully moved the motorcycle into a lower GST bracket, resulting in a substantial price drop of approximately ₹24,500 in total savings for the consumer.

Strategic Downsizing for Tax Benefits

The revised Pulsar NS400Z now features a 349cc engine, a strategic reduction from the previous 373cc unit. This change is pivotal because it brings the motorcycle into the 18% GST slab, down from the 28% tax typically applied to larger-capacity engines.

Despite the smaller displacement, the performance remains high-octane:

• Power Output: The new engine delivers a robust 40 bhp (a minor dip from the previous 42.4 bhp).

• Torque: It now produces 33.2 Nm of peak torque.

• Engineering: The engine's bore remains the same, while the stroke has been shortened to achieve the new displacement.

The price revision brings the ex-showroom price (Delhi) down to ₹1,80,092, compared to the previous price of approximately ₹1.93 lakh. However, the financial benefits for the customer go beyond just the showroom sticker:
