The ongoing power tussle within Karnataka’s ruling Congress seems to be cooling down, with top leaders now relying on what is being called “breakfast politics” to settle internal differences. The Congress high command had recently stepped in, prompting both leaders to begin a series of informal breakfast meetings to ease tensions within the party.
After Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar visited Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s residence last Saturday, it was Shivakumar’s turn today to host the CM. Around 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Siddaramaiah arrived at Shivakumar’s Bengaluru residence, where he was greeted by Shivakumar and his brother, former MP DK Suresh.
Shivakumar posted on X that he had invited the Chief Minister to strengthen collective efforts and reaffirm the party’s commitment to fulfilling its promises to the people of Karnataka. Photos of the two leaders meeting over breakfast were also shared on social media.
Earlier, Siddaramaiah had mentioned that he had not yet received a formal invitation from Shivakumar but added that he would attend once invited. Shivakumar, on the other hand, described the matter as an internal discussion between “two brothers” who are working together.
This meeting follows Saturday’s visit, when, on the instructions of the party leadership, Shivakumar went to the Chief Minister’s official residence, Kaveri, in an effort to break the ongoing leadership deadlock.
Meanwhile, DK Suresh, who had reportedly been in Delhi for meetings with the Congress high command, returned to Bengaluru on Monday, further fuelling speculation about efforts to stabilise the party’s internal dynamics.
