Criminals Used ‘To-Let’ Sign as a Trap: Woman Pepper-Sprayed and Robbed Inside Her Own Home in Andhra Pradesh

A shocking incident of robbery has been reported from Kakinada district in Andhra Pradesh, where criminals used a ‘To-Let’ sign to deceive a woman and gain entry into her home. The suspects, who pretended to be potential tenants, allegedly sprayed the house owner with pepper spray before robbing her of gold jewelry and cash.

According to police, three men arrived on a motorcycle at the residence of Paidipalli Subbalakshmi in Srirama Nagar Colony, Jaggampet. Claiming they were interested in renting a room, they asked her to show them the property. Once inside, the men took out pepper spray and sprayed it directly into her eyes. The victim began screaming as the burning sensation intensified.

Taking advantage of her condition, the men pushed the woman to the ground, snatched the gold jewelry she was wearing, took additional gold items from the house, and stole some money. Before fleeing, the suspects locked her inside a room. She later managed to escape with the help of neighbors and immediately filed a complaint at the local police station.

She reported that the robbers took her necklace, black beads, and cash before fleeing on their motorcycle.

CCTV footage under review
Police have registered a case and begun a search for the accused. CCTV cameras installed in the area are being examined to identify the suspects. Officials say the robbers will be arrested soon and the stolen items recovered.

The crime has created fear and concern among local residents, who are now questioning the adequacy of police patrolling and security measures in the area.
