Ranveer Singh's multi-starrer film Dhurandhar recently dropped its trailer, drawing mixed reactions from viewers. While some praised its scale and intensity, others criticized the excessive violence showcased in it. Amid this debate, content creator Dhruv Rathee, known for his outspoken commentary, strongly condemned the brutality depicted in the film.
After the trailer release, Rathee wrote on Instagram (formerly Twitter):
"Aditya Dhar has crossed all limits of vulgarity in Bollywood. The excessive violence, bloodshed, and torture shown in the trailer is no different from watching ISIS beheadings and calling it entertainment. Their greed for money has gone so far that they are poisoning the minds of the younger generation, normalizing torture and bloodshed. Now the censor board must decide which is a bigger issue: showing a kiss scene or showing a man being flayed alive."
Soon after his post went viral, users dug up Rathee’s old video where he praised the violent cult classic Gangs of Wasseypur. A user named Abhijeet shared a screenshot of the video titled, "Is Gangs of Wasseypur the most important film in India?" Responding to this, Rathee wrote, "I was wrong at the time; I didn't realize the impact such films have on society."
Actor Ranvir Shorey also joined the conversation, taking a dig at Rathee. He commented, "Dude, you’re wrong most of the time, but I love that you’ve turned it into a career."
Dhruv Rathee responded sharply: "This is still better than the career you had in Bigg Boss, where you were faking your life."
Shorey fired back once again: "The fights on Bigg Boss weren’t even half as fake as you are. Keep it up, friend."
Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar is scheduled for theatrical release on December 5.
