Ever since Yashasvi Jaiswal broke into international cricket, the young Indian opener has consistently impressed with his performances. His run-scoring ability has made him a favourite among fans, while his humble demeanour and positive attitude have earned him the affection of teammates—especially the senior players in the Indian dressing room.
Among them, former India captain Rohit Sharma shares a particularly warm bond with Jaiswal. Rohit is known for his light-hearted yet stern on-field reprimands, and Jaiswal has often been on the receiving end. Now, the youngster has made an amusing revelation: he actually gets worried when Rohit doesn’t scold him.
Jaiswal, who has been part of the Indian team for the past two and a half years, made both his Test and ODI debuts under Rohit’s leadership. The two have formed a strong opening partnership, one that reflects a brotherly relationship. Jaiswal says this bond is often expressed through Rohit’s playful scoldings.
Speaking at an event, Jaiswal said, “There’s love even in Rohit Bhaiya’s scolding. It’s a lot of fun. If he’s not scolding, it feels like Rohit Bhaiya is upset. So even when he scolds, it feels good because he does it for our improvement.”
Their chemistry was recently on display during the ODI series against South Africa, where they opened the innings together in all three matches. After two quiet outings, the duo produced a superb 155-run stand in the third ODI—reminiscent of their strong Test partnerships. Jaiswal also scored his maiden ODI century in the match, becoming the sixth Indian to register centuries in all three formats at just 23 years of age.
