Drinking sugarcane juice will not benefit these 5 types of women, but will cause serious harm; are you making this mistake too?

Sugarcane juice is popular in the summer, but it's not beneficial for everyone. According to nutritionist Lima Mahajan, some women should avoid it. Excessive consumption can be harmful for women suffering from diabetes, obesity, fatty liver, kidney problems, or IBS. It's high in sugar and calories, which can worsen these conditions. Therefore, consume it according to your health condition.

Sugarcane juice is a popular cool and refreshing drink during the summer. It provides instant cooling and energy, but did you know that it's not beneficial for everyone?

Many women drink it without thinking, thinking it's natural and healthy. However, the reality is that consuming it in excessive amounts or under the wrong circumstances can be harmful. Sugarcane juice can worsen certain health conditions, especially in the case of certain diseases.

If you drink sugarcane juice every day during the summer, it's important to know which women should avoid it, and why. Lima Mahajan, weight loss and hormonal health expert and nutritionist at Get Fit with Lima, Gurgaon, explains this.

Diabetes

If you have diabetes, you should avoid drinking sugarcane juice or avoid it without consulting your doctor. We say this because a glass of sugarcane juice contains approximately 40-50 grams of sugar. Its glycemic load is high (20-25). This can rapidly raise blood sugar.

Weight Loss

If you're worried about your weight gain and trying to lose weight, avoid drinking sugarcane juice. It contains 150-180 calories. Because it's liquid sugar, it doesn't make you feel full. This can lead to frequent hunger and weight gain.

Fatty Liver

The sucrose present in it breaks down into glucose and fructose in the body. Excess fructose can accumulate in the liver as fat. This can worsen the problem of fatty liver. Therefore, women suffering from fatty liver should avoid drinking sugarcane juice regularly.

Kidney related problems

If a woman is suffering from kidney problems, she should not drink sugarcane juice without consulting a doctor. One glass contains approximately 250-300 mg of potassium. Potassium can accumulate in the body if you have kidney problems, which can affect the heart and muscles.

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)

It's a common chronic disease that affects the gastrointestinal tract. Symptoms include abdominal pain, cramps, bloating, gas, and diarrhea or constipation (or both). Excess sugar creates an osmotic effect in the intestines, leading to bloating, gas, or loose stools. This can be a trigger for those with sensitive stomachs. If you're prone to stomach upset, avoid drinking it.

Caution

  • Being natural doesn't mean everything is safe for everyone.
  • Both the quantity and your health condition matter a lot.
  • Drink only occasionally and in limited quantities.

Sugarcane juice may be refreshing and tasty, but it's not suitable for everyone. Especially if you have diabetes, weight gain, liver, kidney, or digestive problems, think carefully before drinking it.
