The latest ICC Test batting rankings have seen a notable reshuffle involving India’s young batting stars India national cricket team, with Shubman Gill moving up while Yashasvi Jaiswal has slightly slipped.
Gill has climbed to the No. 8 position with 743 rating points, gaining ground after a strong century in the Test match against Afghanistan. His rise has allowed him to overtake multiple batters and strengthen his place inside the top 10.
On the other hand, Jaiswal has dropped one spot to No. 9, mainly due to his relatively quiet outing in the same match where he managed only 24 runs. The shift highlights how quickly rankings can change based on a single Test performance.
KL Rahul, despite scoring a century in the same game, remains unchanged at No. 34, showing that ranking movement depends on broader performance trends, not just one innings.
Elsewhere in the rankings, New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra has slipped from 10th to 13th, while India’s Rishabh Pant has moved up one place to 12th after a solid knock, further tightening competition in the middle order rankings.
Overall, the update reflects how closely packed the top Test batters are right now, with small performances making a big difference in positions.
