Jalaun Thana Incharge Suicide Mystery: Jalaun: Police have arrested a woman constable in connection with the death of Inspector Arun Kumar Rai, in-charge of Kuthoud police station in Jalaun district of Uttar Pradesh, due to gunshot injuries under suspicious circumstances. Officials gave this information on Sunday. According to them, his last rites were performed in Rai's home district Sant Kabir Nagar. Police said that after Inspector Rai's death due to gunshot injuries on Friday night, his wife Maya Rai had accused a woman constable of murder and the police arrested the woman constable today. Jalaun Superintendent of Police (SP) Dr Durgesh Kumar said that on December 5, Inspector Arun Kumar Rai, in-charge of Kuthoud police station, died due to gunshot injuries.

On receiving the information, the deceased inspector's wife Maya Rai reached the Jalaun Superintendent of Police office from her home district Sant Kabir Nagar. She had given a written complaint to the Superintendent of Police accusing female constable Meenakshi Sharma, posted at 'Dial 112' number in the police station Koch, of murder. Based on the complaint, the police registered an FIR against Sharma under the murder section of the Indian Penal Code and on the same basis, Sharma was arrested on Sunday and presented in the court, from where she was sent to jail. According to police sources, at the time of the incident, constable Sharma was at the residence of the deceased inspector and she had informed other policemen about the incident.
Meanwhile, the last rites of Inspector Arun Kumar Rai were performed with a 'Guard of Honour' on Sunday at Birhalghat in Dhanghata tehsil of Sant Kabir Nagar district. The last rites were performed in the presence of Dhanghata police station in-charge Jaiprakash Dubey and a large number of local residents were present at the ghat. Rai was a resident of Rajanouli village in Dhanghata police station area. Female constable Sharma, who is said to be responsible for the murder of Inspector Arun Kumar Rai, was also involved in controversies during her posting at Baheri police station in Bareilly district.
