Maruti Suzuki is preparing to make its popular compact SUV-crossover, the Fronx, significantly safer with advanced technology upgrades. Recent sightings of the vehicle undergoing road tests suggest that the company may soon introduce Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) features in the model.
Fronx Spotted Testing with ADAS
According to reports, the new Maruti Fronx has been spotted testing on Indian roads with ADAS technology. Interestingly, this is not the first time the vehicle has been seen with such features, indicating that the automaker has been working on safety upgrades for some time.
The repeated testing has increased speculation that a major update could be on the way for the SUV.
What Is ADAS and Why It Matters?
ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) is a set of smart safety technologies designed to assist drivers and reduce the risk of accidents. If introduced in the Fronx, it may include features such as:
-
Automatic Emergency Braking
-
Lane Keep Assist
-
Adaptive Cruise Control
-
Forward Collision Warning
These systems enhance driving safety but may also lead to a slight increase in the vehicle’s price.
Possible Technology Sharing from Other Models
Currently, Maruti Suzuki offers ADAS features in select models like the Victoris and e-Vitara. Reports suggest that the Fronx may borrow similar ADAS technology from the Victoris platform.
However, the company has not officially confirmed any ADAS rollout for the Fronx yet.
Hybrid Version Also Spotted
Adding to the buzz, a test mule of the Fronx was recently seen with a “Hybrid” badge at the rear. Notably, it only read “Hybrid” instead of “Smart Hybrid,” sparking speculation that a new and more advanced hybrid system could be in development.
Reports also suggest that Maruti Suzuki is working on a more affordable hybrid system based on the Z-Series engine, which currently powers models like the Swift and Dzire.
Engine Options in Maruti Fronx
The Fronx is currently offered with two engine options:
1.2-litre K12N Petrol Engine
-
Power: 88 bhp
-
Torque: 113 Nm
-
Transmission: 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT
1.0-litre Boosterjet Turbo Petrol Engine
-
Power: 98.6 bhp
-
Torque: 147.6 Nm
-
Transmission: 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic
Strong Sales Performance
Maruti Suzuki recently recorded its highest-ever monthly sales in May 2026, with 2.42 lakh vehicles sold. This marks a significant increase compared to previous months, reflecting strong demand for its vehicles across segments.
Final Thoughts
If the Fronx receives ADAS and hybrid updates, it could become an even more competitive option in the compact SUV segment. While official confirmation is still awaited, ongoing testing strongly suggests that Maruti Suzuki is preparing a major technology upgrade for one of its best-selling models.
