Identity and income documents
- If you don't have Form 16, your monthly salary slip is crucial. This will provide accurate information about your total gross salary and taxes.
- Your ITR cannot be processed without your PAN and Aadhaar. Therefore, ensure that the two are linked.
- Statements of all your active bank accounts are necessary to track the total interest earned and other transactions during the year.
Official records of the tax department
- You can file Form 26AS in place of Form 16. This is like your tax passbook. It provides complete details of the total TDS deducted by your company or bank.
- The AIS is a record of your financial transactions. It provides detailed information about share dividends received, savings account interest, and major expenses.
Proof of investments, savings and other income
- If tax has been exempted under Section 80C, 80D, then keep LIC receipt, PPF passbook, children's school tuition fees and medical insurance documents ready.
