Ram Kapoor, a familiar face on Indian television and films, finds himself at the center of controversy just before the release of his upcoming web series Mistry. Known for his powerful performances and recent body transformation, Kapoor was all set to return to the screen alongside actress Mona Singh. However, the actor has now been removed from the show's promotional activities by Jio Hotstar following reports of objectionable behavior during a press junket.

During a media interaction at JW Marriott in Juhu, Kapoor allegedly made several crude and sexual remarks that shocked those present. Eyewitnesses say the actor's tone was unprofessional throughout the event. The most controversial statement came when he reportedly said, “I feel like I’ve been gang-raped by elephants,” referring to the pressure of media work, while a female journalist was setting up her microphone.

This was not the only instance of inappropriate behavior. Kapoor allegedly made lewd comments about a female Jio Hotstar team member’s dress, saying, “This dress is distracting me.” In another disturbing remark, he reportedly told a team member, “Your mother should’ve faked a headache that night—you shouldn’t have been born.”

The internal backlash was immediate. A source from Jio Hotstar described Kapoor’s jokes as “completely out of line” and “deeply unprofessional.” Following the incident, the platform dropped him from all further promotional events for Mistry. Co-star Mona Singh carried out the rest of the media interactions alone.

While Jio Hotstar has not issued an official public statement detailing the exact reasons for Kapoor’s removal, insiders confirmed the platform cited a “personal emergency” to explain his absence. Attempts were made by the production company, Banijay Asia, to manage the situation and reschedule his media sessions, but communication reportedly ceased as of June 23.

Mistry, an Indian adaptation of the award-winning series Monk, is slated for release on June 27. Despite the controversy, Kapoor remains the lead in the project, though the incident has cast a shadow over what was supposed to be his major OTT comeback.
