‘She Stayed With Me for 15 Days and Seemed Normal’: Mother of Panipat Child-Killer Makes Shocking Claim

The investigation into the brutal killing of four children in Panipat continues to unfold with disturbing revelations emerging from the accused woman’s family. The accused, Poonam, who is currently in police custody, has reportedly confessed to drowning all four children. As the probe deepens, her mother, husband and brother-in-law have now made startling statements.

Speaking exclusively to TV9 Bharatvarsh, Poonam’s mother claimed that her daughter showed no signs of mental disturbance before marriage. She said her daughter’s behavior only changed after she got married. “She was perfectly fine here. There was never a complaint against her in the neighbourhood. The last time she visited, she stayed with me for 15 days while I was undergoing surgery. She was cheerful, laughing and smiling all the time. We never felt anything was wrong,” the mother said.

She further stated that the family only came to know about the killings through the police. “Now that everything has come out, she will have to face the punishment for what she has done. We are not responsible,” she added.

Meanwhile, Poonam’s husband, Naveen, made a strong statement, demanding strict punishment for her. He said that she should be punished in the same manner in which the children were killed. Naveen also denied any link to occult practices and said he never took his wife to any tantrik. He initially believed that the deaths of his son and niece were accidents. However, after the death of another child, Vidhi, he filed a police complaint that led to the truth coming out.

Naveen said the couple was married in 2019 and he never suspected any serious mental illness. However, he admitted that Poonam often became withdrawn and would leave the house without informing anyone.

Vidhi’s father, Sandeep, who is also Poonam’s brother-in-law, revealed that he had long suspected her involvement. He said that just before the wedding procession was to depart, Poonam took Vidhi upstairs. “She was present during the deaths of Jiya, Shubham and Ishika as well. This time too, she came downstairs after some time. When my father and I went up, we suspected that Vidhi had been killed. I also suspect that members of her family may be involved,” Sandeep alleged.

The police are now examining all angles in the case, including family involvement, mental health history and possible motivations behind the repeated killings. Officials have stated that detailed forensic and psychological evaluations are underway as the investigation continues.
