A controversial video allegedly showing a law student being beaten with slippers, slapped and assaulted with a belt inside a police station in Shivpuri has gone viral on social media, triggering widespread outrage. The video claims that the victim is the son of a local leader from the Bharatiya Janata Party. However, the police have denied the allegations, calling the viral clip AI-generated.
The victim has been identified as Kshitij Pathak, a first-year LLB student at a law college in Shivpuri and the son of former BJP Mandal president Ravindra Kumar Pathak. According to Kshitij, he visited the Pichhore police station on Saturday night around 9:30 pm to file a complaint on behalf of his friend’s brother, Farhan, following a dispute.
Kshitij alleged that while he was speaking to the station’s computer operator regarding the FIR, the then Station House Officer, Umesh Upadhyay, arrived, abused him verbally and started beating him with slippers. He further claimed that he was slapped, assaulted with a belt and later locked inside the lockup. On Sunday afternoon, Kshitij was produced in court in a breach of peace case and was released on bail.
The viral video reportedly shows the assault, which Kshitij claims was recorded by people present at the scene. However, TI Umesh Upadhyay has denied all allegations, stating that he did not assault the student and that the circulating video has been created using artificial intelligence to mislead the public.
Reacting to the controversy, Pichhore SDOP Prashant Sharma said that the matter is under investigation. He stated that all facts related to the viral video and the allegations are being examined and that further action will be taken based on the outcome of the probe.
The incident has sparked heated debate on social media, with many demanding a fair and transparent investigation into the matter.
