Pakistan US Mineral Deal Donald Trump: To appease Donald Trump, Pakistan spent three times more money lobbying in the US than India. Furthermore, Asim Munir lured Trump into his fold by promising a mineral deal.
Since US President Donald Trump's second term in office, his love for Pakistan has grown exponentially. Trump, who had cut off economic aid to Pakistan during his first term, hosted Pakistan's Army Chief Asim Munir for lunch at the White House. Later, Trump invited Shahbaz Sharif and Asim Munir back to the US and welcomed them at the White House. Trump has consistently praised Pakistan's jihadist general, even after Asim Munir orchestrated the Pulwama terrorist attack through the ISI, which led to India's subsequent Operation Sindoor. The New York Times has revealed that Asim Munir has offered various inducements to woo Trump. Furthermore, impoverished Pakistan has even opened its treasury.
According to a New York Times report, Pakistan signed a major deal with an influential lobby firm in Washington before the announcement of Trump's policies. Following this, Trump's stance toward Pakistan shifted. Pakistan's Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif stepped up his wooing by demanding the Nobel Peace Prize for Trump. Furthermore, Pakistan began luring Trump with rare earths and minerals from Balochistan. To woo Trump, Pakistan spent three times more money than India on six lobby firms, including Trump's business partner and his former bodyguard.
Asim Munir spent money to 'win' Trump's heart
Not only this, Pakistan also signed a mineral deal worth 500 million rupees with the US and opened its market to American products. This move by Munir benefited Pakistan against India. While Trump turned his tone against India, the US President began to support Pakistan. The US has imposed much lower tariffs on Pakistan than on India. Not only this, the US is also making many deals with Pakistan. Not only this, the US is now offering beneficial deals to Pakistan. Trump is continuously claiming that he brokered a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. Delhi has completely rejected Trump's claim, while Pakistan is openly saying that the US President stopped the war.
According to reports, Pakistan has signed a $5 million deal with six lobby firms close to Trump. These include Seiden Law LLP and Javelin Advisors, both of which are part of Trump's inner circle. This helped Pakistan win over Trump. After signing this deal, Asim Munir was given the opportunity to have a private lunch with Trump at the White House. This marked the first time that a Pakistani Army Chief was openly met and welcomed by the US President. Following this, India has also increased its spending on lobbying in the US.
