The final ODI between India and England on July 19 at the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground promises to be a high-stakes encounter, with the three-match series locked at 1-1. As India looks to secure the series, much of the spotlight will be on Virat Kohli, who has an unusual record at the historic venue.
Despite enjoying tremendous success across the world, Lord's remains one of the few grounds where Kohli has yet to produce one of his trademark big innings.
A Rare Weak Spot in Kohli's Career
Virat Kohli has played nine international innings at Lord's but is yet to score a half-century at the venue.
In ODIs, he has featured in three matches, scoring 77 runs at an average of 25.66, with a highest score of 45.
His Test record at Lord's has also been modest. Across three Tests, Kohli has scored 122 runs at an average of 21.16, with a best score of 42. He has also recorded a duck at the ground.
These numbers stand in sharp contrast to the remarkable consistency he has displayed at most international venues throughout his career.
The Only Major Venue Without a Fifty
One of the most striking aspects of Kohli's record is that Lord's is the only international ground where he has played more than three innings without registering a single score of 50 or more.
Given his extraordinary record across formats and around the world, this remains one of the few milestones missing from his illustrious career.
A Chance to Rewrite the Story
The series decider gives Kohli an opportunity to change that narrative. A significant innings at Lord's would not only help India in its bid to win the ODI series but would also allow the former captain to finally overcome one of the few statistical blemishes in his career.
