Zimbabwe Recall Wessly Madhevere for India T20Is; Ben Curran Retains Place in 15-Man Squad

ZIM vs IND: Zimbabwe have announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against India, recalling all-rounder Wessly Madhevere after nearly a year away from the format. The hosts have also handed a maiden T20I call-up to wicketkeeper-batter Tafadzwa Tsiga, while fast bowler Newman Nyamhuri returns after recovering from injury.

Zimbabwe are aiming to challenge a strong Indian side in the three-match series beginning July 23 at the Harare Sports Club. Led by Sikandar Raza, the squad combines experienced campaigners with promising young talent as the hosts look to make the most of home conditions.

Wessly Madhevere Returns After a Year

The biggest talking point is the return of Wessly Madhevere, who last featured in a T20 International for Zimbabwe in July 2025.

The experienced all-rounder has played 79 T20Is, scoring 1,256 runs and taking 15 wickets, adding valuable depth to Zimbabwe's batting and bowling departments. His return is expected to strengthen the middle order and provide additional all-round options against India.

Maiden T20I Call-Up for Tafadzwa Tsiga

Zimbabwe have rewarded wicketkeeper-batter Tafadzwa Tsiga with his first T20 International call-up.

Although Tsiga has already represented Zimbabwe in Test cricket, he is yet to make his white-ball international debut. If selected in the playing XI, he will make his T20I debut against India.

Newman Nyamhuri Back From Injury

Fast bowler Newman Nyamhuri has also returned to the squad after recovering from the injury that ruled him out of the recent Bangladesh T20I series.

The young pacer has previously represented Zimbabwe in Tests and ODIs and will now be looking to earn his maiden T20I cap if given an opportunity during the India series.

Ben Curran Keeps His Place

Ben Curran, the brother of England all-rounder Sam Curran, has retained his place in Zimbabwe's T20I squad after a series of encouraging performances.

The left-handed batter is expected to play an important role at the top of the order as Zimbabwe attempt to challenge India's bowling attack.

Three Players Dropped

Zimbabwe have made three changes from the squad that featured in the recent T20I series against Bangladesh.
