Pakistan's ODI and T20 team coach Gary Kirsten has resigned. Gary Kirsten signed a 2-year contract with Pakistan Cricket in April this year. But, that contract ended in just 6 months. The reason for Gary Kirsten's resignation is believed to be his differences with the Pakistan Cricket Board. Gary Kirsten's resignation is no less than a big shock to the Pakistan cricket team before the Australia tour.

There has been no statement from Gary Kirsten regarding his resignation from the post of Pakistan's white ball coach. However, it is believed that the rift with PCB is the main reason behind his decision. Differences of opinion between the Pakistan Cricket Board and the coach were continuing on many issues. There were reports that Gary Kirsten wanted to appoint David Reid as Pakistan's high-performance coach, which was not approved by PCB. And, the names of those whom PCB wanted to appoint as high-performance coaches were not acceptable to Kirsten.

Kirsten's resignation from the post of ODI and T20 team coach is also being linked to Mohammad Rizwan being made the captain. There are reports that Kirsten is not happy with this development in Pakistan cricket. According to media reports, bitterness in relations with the players of the Pak team was also one of the major reasons for Kirsten's resignation.

It is clear from Gary Kirsten's resignation that he will no longer be with the team on the Australia tour. In such a situation, the big question is who will be Pakistan's next white ball coach? PCB will have to find the answer to this big question quickly because Kirsten has resigned at a time when the Champions Trophy is not far away. According to media reports, PCB's first choice could be red ball team coach Jason Gillespie.

Pakistan's tour of Australia starts on November 4 and ends on November 18. Meanwhile, Pakistan has to play 3 ODIs and 3 T20 series in Australia.
