Bangladesh defeated Sri Lanka by three wickets in the ICC ODI World Cup on Monday due to the all-round performance of captain Shakib Al Hasan (82 runs and two wickets). This is Bangladesh's first win over Sri Lanka in the World Cup.
Sri Lanka scored 279 runs while playing first. In reply, Bangladesh won in 41.1 overs losing 7 wickets. On behalf of the team, Nazmul Hussain Shanto batted brilliantly and scored the maximum runs of 90. Whereas Shakib played the match-winning innings of 82 runs.
With this defeat, Sri Lanka is out of the race for the semi-finals of the World Cup 2023. Bangladesh cricket team has defeated this team twice in the history of the ODI World Cup. Shakib Al Hasan scored his first half-century in the World Cup. He scored a quick 82 runs in 65 balls.
