IND vs AUS: Team India fined 25 runs due to Rishabh Pant's mistake! It should not become the reason for defeat.
The best example of how costly a mistake can be is the Perth Test. In this match, a mistake made by Rishabh Pant has cost Team India dearly. Because Australia has taken advantage of it and Team India has been fined 25 runs due to it. Indian bowlers took 9 wickets of Australia one after the other. But the work done by the last pair of Starc and Hazelwood by taking advantage of Pant's mistake has helped Australia to come back in the match. Now there is a fear that this may become the reason for Team India's defeat in the Perth Test.
Pant's mistake, Team India fined 25 runs!
In the Perth Test, Australia lost 9 wickets for 79 runs. But, after that, Josh Hazlewood along with Mitchell Starc added 25 runs for the last wicket on Australia's scoreboard. These 25 runs were like a penalty imposed on Team India. This is because if Pant had caught Hazlewood's catch, then at least there would not have been a 25-run partnership between Australia's last wickets.
What did Hazelwood do after the dropped catch?
On the second day of the match, Rishabh Pant dropped the catch of Hazelwood on Bumrah's ball. Hazelwood certainly did not score a big score. He could score only 7 runs despite remaining unbeaten till the end. But, the 25 runs he added with Starc in 120 balls can hurt Team India.
This opportunity was lost due to Pant's mistake
Earlier in the Perth Test, India had a chance to bowl out Australia for the lowest score in a Test against them. But they missed the chance after Perth dropped the catch of Heddlewood. Australia's lowest Test score against India was 83 runs, which it made in 1981.
India bowled out Australia for 104 in the Perth Test and took a 46-run lead in the first innings.
